I'm running into an issue using WMI to pull event logs from remote machines and writing them to a SQL dB. It works fine except for events that show up like this in Event Viewer (check out MS KB article 312216):
The description for Event ID ( 504 ) in Source ( CiscoUnity_PHGreeting ) cannot be...
It turns out that the SCSI card in the Filer was the culprit here. After speaking with NetApp, apparently the SCSI errors the filer was throwing were hardware-level errors. They shipped us out a new SCSI adapter and all is well since we installed it. Kind of odd considering the card and the...
The filer(FAS3020) is running OnTAP 7.1, with NDMP set to v4. ARCServe is 11.1 SP2 (build 3200). The library is an Overland NEO 2000 with 2 HP LTO3 drives. The library is connected directly to the filer via SCSI.
I've checked the comp. matrix on CA's site. OnTAP 7.1 is supported for the...
Just curious, is anyone here using the NDMP NAS Option & Tape Library option successfully on 11.1 or 11.5? We're having mixed results trying to get the ARCServe server to talk to a Network Appliance filer with an Overland tape library directly attached.
Thank you sir, worked like a charm. It's odd that this one server wouldn't connect as I'm running 6 other 2003 servers where I didn't have to bring the agents up to SP2 (one of them running on identical hardware and installed using the same image). I've seen ARCServe do stranger things before...
I'm having a strange problem adding an agent to the list of Windows servers. I've tried adding the agent using auto-discovery and by specifying IP address, but it keeps telling me the connection was lost. The wierd thing is the server's name will appear in the auto-discovery list so ARCServe...
We run ARCServe 11.1 and we've had a number of problems with it. Needless to say their support is inadequate. I called in the other day with an issue, opened a case with the highest priority and it took 4+ hours for someone to get back to me AFTER I called and complained.
Oh I completely agree with you guys about best practices,
unfortunately the powers-that-be like seeing the documentation, best practices, whitepapers, etc. I've been able to find a good amount of stuff on google that should hopefully keep them happy.
If my job were to actually sit down, look...
How much data changes everyday? If it's not a lot you might consider using something like Robocopy. You could still maintain one master copy on the server and have Robocopy only bring over changes, which should be pretty quick over a T1. You could run it as a scheduled task on the server or...
Does anyone know of any good resources (website, whitepaper, etc.) for best practices regarding backup procedures. Mostly having to do with when to choose Full/Incremental/Differential, how often to take media offsite, when to archive data, etc. I have a pretty good idea of what needs to be...
