hello-
We are migrating a company into our Forest (windows 2008/Exchange 2010) but they would like to have two smtp addresses with their existing old email domain namespace as their primary, BUT is it possible for this migrated company to "send" emails using the email namespace of the new...
Sniper,
Gotcha, I ran the numbers between the MS Exchange 2010 sizer and the HP (similar) sizer tool.
The company purchased a Dell Equalogic (raid 50 ugh!!!) but whatever.. so I just need to nail a few things but have a grasp on some numbers, this equalogic uses Raid 50, 600gb SAS 10k drives...
Thanks Sniper very much,
The business uses (as a standard) 250mb mailboxes -and there are roughly under 1200 of them.
You are right 2 dbs are not the way to go from what I'm reading in the white papers/books etc.
So perhaps break it up into further db's based on department? or perhaps status...
Hello,
This is for anyone who can help but would love Pat's input if he can answer..
I am looking to build proper DAG for a client. There are roughly 1200 mailboxes but as time progresses this number will grow without question.
I am wondering how accurate the Exchange 2010 mailbox sizer calc...
Hi santhosh,
I retrieved the mailbox data size and it is roughly 370Gb for approximately 960 users and the public folder data size it about 185Gb... not that much in either data size.
So the 90 or so users per day should be ok...
hey, if I did choose this number of users per day (90 or so)...
Hi Santhosh,
Some answers to your questions to help better answer my overall questions :-)

Hi Santhosh,

Hi there,
thanks for replying my friend! yes, it will be for roughly 1200 users from source to target.
I like the option to migrate at the same time although the customer has given us 2 weeks for the actual migration phase of the project so I plan to parse out the users @ 100 or so each...
Santhosh,
just went thru your online AD migrator flow chart, very useful!!
I plan to use it's graphical details!
Also since I am doing an Exchange migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, I have read thru the admin pdf guide for migration manager Exchange 8.6 and it is quite thorough...
wow Santhosh!!!
awesome, hey is their a strict recommendation to deploy the tool only on a physical server? or can I get away with deploying Quest migration manager AD/Exchange on a VM.. (we have ESX here)
just wondering if there are any issues with that.

blade

hey one more question, I am going to do a source <---> target Active Directory and Exchange migration
From AD 2003 to 2008 and from Exchange 2003 to 2010.. so the question is these Migrator tools are installed on a member server of which domain? the source or the...
Thanks very much Santhosh,
Is there an admin guide I can download at all? pertaining to the Quest migration manager for AD and(or) Exchange 2010.
I would really like to do some in depth reading on the subject . I know that this is generally not something you can obtain by just googling for it...
Hello-
Has anyone here used the Quest AD Mig mgr tools for an interforest migration plan?
Just wondering at a high level if the tools provided:

-monitoring/reporting features.
I have read thru some of the white papers from the quest site, but they are consolidated, not...

Is there a GPO you can apply to control the number of days until the password expires alert when logging into OWA?
Isn't this tied to the Interactive Logon Prompt: Prompt user to change password setting on the DC?
could a gpo help here?
thanks for any info
blade

just some general stuff I need to understand. Sorry to anyone...
