the way we have always done this is to plug the bell ringer into an analog port and then use twinning on the digital extension to make them both ring at the same time.

Have you tried the 8.1.56 patch that includes the R45 bin files for the 9508 phones? We installed it yesterday and the problem has not reoccurred yet but it is to soon to say that it is fixed.
We had 8.1.63 on this system first. It seemed like the problem was even worse. 8.1.63 still has the same R44 firmware so it makes sense that the problem would still exist.

yes, I opened a ticket or I would not have the firmware. I am just trying to set my expectations correctly. This is 90 phone system and will take some resources to get it upgraded. I hate wasting time on upgrades that do not fix the issue.

Does any one have an update on if this patch fixed the problem with 9508 phones going to please wait after a period of time? I have system running 8.1.56 that seems to have this issue. I just got the patch from Avaya but am wondering if I am just wasting my time to upgrade it.
We swapped out 2 of the problem extensions at our customer with 2 known working 9508 phones that is phones that had been installed at our office for over 6 months without any lockups. Insstalled at this customer and they had locked up/frozen within 2 hours. So in our case it is not the phones...
With our customer it only seems to be affecting some phones. Has anyone considered that it could actually be the phones themselves and not a software issue?
We are having the same problem too. 9508 locks up and has to be unplugged to resolve the issue. We have a had case open with Avaya for months. They told us that 7.0.31 would fix the issue but it didnt. It seems to be occuring much less but it is still happening.
