Hi all,
Here is the story and make it simple.
I had a Nortel networks with couples of 450-24Ts (Named as A450 and B450) and 5510-48T (Named as A5510) in single VLAN1.
Connection as below:
A5510 ==(2 x 100M MLT)==> A450 ==(2 x 100M MLT) ==> B450
Workstation 1 (WS1) connected to A5510.
Server 1...
Hi all,
Previously, I am working in Nortel site.
Start from coming year, we are planning to use Cisco product.
For core, we would like to purchase 2 x 4506.
By design the 2 x cores will be linked with 4 x 1G ?.
Hereby, what is the methods to link that 2 x 4506.
LACP (IEEE 802.3ad) on layer 2...
Hi all,
Anyone tried Ethernet Routing switch 5510,5520,5530 software release version 5.0.
It's now support VRRP and OSPF like a Passport 8600.
I can make use of two switches as a core in cheaper way.
Any comments ?
Try to add static route at 8600.
Example:
Dest X.X.62.64 Subnet 255.255.255.192 Next Hop X.X.62.126
Dest X.X.62.128 Subnet 255.255.255.192 Next Hop X.X.62.190
Dest X.X.62.192 Subnet 255.255.255.192 Next Hop X.X.62.254
450 is layer 2 device, do not need to cater.
Follow up status:
The counter is reset after reached 2 ^ 32 limitation.
The switch is still function only the uptime start up again from 0 day 0 hours 0 mins.
P.S: MID ID = 1.3.6.1.4.1.2272.1.1.10.0
Hi all,
Can I know how long is your Nortel equipment up-time ?
When I using SNMP to collect my Passport 1200 status, the up-time has already passed 488 days.
Together with the status, a counter is called "timeticks", it showed 4,217,664,900.
With calculation, 4,217,664,900 / 60 / 60 / 24 *...
As a technical standpoint and working with both Cisco and Nortels support; if the Cisco was $100,000 more than the Nortel I'd still go with the Cisco. Thats unless you like to drink Alcohol heavily......

The above answer should pass to Nortel...
There are many reasons.
1. DHCP server is not function.
2. DHCP server is not in the same VLAN of workstations.
I think you should already assign a IP address for 5510 as management IP.
Try to ping the 5510 from workstation to prove workstation's NIC is working. (Must be same subnet)
Waiting...
