find the DVD/CD in control panel / system / device manager and uninstall it - turn the machine off , and on again, if you can then enter BIOS by holding DEL down on bootup, is the DVD recognised in the device list?? .....
See if the device has reappeared in the device manager list as a DVD and...
best to try and find connection logs on the disk drive that might be generated on connections.... why not list the *.log files and look for anything there...
now i have the advantage of knowing my local IP not my WAN IP so searching for that confirmed that logfiles generated by mcafee stored...

McAfee commonly offer alternative processes to deal with trojans outisde of their mainstream AV & "anti-whatever" programmes as the trojans commonly have processes built into them to prevent visits to AV online resources and block commonly applied solutions SO this can sometimes favour less...
do thse laptops typically syncronise with network drives as a matter of course or download email into outlook from a network outlook server.... if these processes are run on bootup they will be tried and tried again until they timeout / fall over .... then allow other things to carry on...

have you explored what else might be online via the likes of the Hijackthis resources online? some of the other AV vendors might offer a solution... would suggest some intensive googling ...... the website hosting the Hijackthis application might be a good start, does addaware and/or spybot...
it probably can't find an essential driver as it still thinks it is running on a MSI PN4 ---- can you log the errors and put the drivers it can't find onto the HDD somehow
