Just a quick note to let you all know, that I now have it working. I replaced the ps-win32-app-8.2.1416.0-inst.tar.gz file with the same file from a report package and it's installed and run without any issues! Thanks once again to everyone who posted replies.

no it's missing, but I looked for it in the install source files, but it wasn't there either. Is it required for all versions of C8 (This is a onebox intallation though - so I don't know if thats the reason - I don't know that much about COGNOS 8)
