Many thanks for the further pointers :-)
I've played around with various settings in these early hours and the phone system is behaving inconsistently in forwarding calls out - I won't go into detail as I'm sure it is due to either my ignorance or something being blocked at the BT Exchange (as...
Hi there.
Thanks for the message back. Sorry about the waffle in my posts - you have a valid point there!
I don't mean to sound pendantic either - it's genuinely that I find the navigation of the Element Manager not the most admin friendly, with somewhat similar options in multiple locations...
Sorry mate. I'm just responding to your comment above:
"I do not think your familiar with the Forward No Answer setting as you thought...
Config/Telephony/Active/2XX/LineAccess/Forward No Answer - this is where most sets are told to go to the Callpilots DN (mailbox) should they not answer...
Ah yes, that rings a bell (no pun intended). You've jogged my memory that this wasn't quite the function I thought before. It's such a time gap between doing things on the BCM (often years), I often forget how to do or not do things I worked out before, and of course I don't have the opportunity...
Hey Curlycord.
I know how to set it so it rings a few times before redirect for a given handset / DN that has an allocated DDI number attributed to it (perhaps this has been lost in my above posts, and sorry if I'm using terminology incorrectly or am misinterpretting your instructions as I'm a...
To confirm, the redirect worked a charm. It looks like it is only redirecting calls made to the main public phone number (as I want it to), and the public phone number for the domestic setup for the house next door is registered on a separate line in the Element Manager with it's own specified...
Further to my last post, I have finally found something that I think might do it. In the Element Manager, I've gone to:
Configuration -> Lines -> [main line for phone number] -> Preferences (tab) -> 'Redirect to:'
If I put the number in here, I'm guessing it will redirect back out to an...
Many thanks for taking the time to reply, and sorry my response has been a couple of days. Please see my responses below, and thanks in advance for any further advice :-)
"running OS 4.0.2.03a"
You can refer to your BCM400 as Release 4.0
Noted - I included the full build number in case it was...
Hope all reading this are well.
In the wake of the Covid-19 crisis, I am exploring options to redirect all calls made to our main telephone number (received through 2 x ISDN lines (4 channels)) to an external number outside the firm. What would be absolutely ideal is if this could happen after...
Just realised that is the domain of FirebirdScrambler, who seems to have help out others on this one - so I'm dropping him an email now. Thanks for the recommendation :-)
Thanks - I'll have a think, but it really would be great to me able to sort this myself, especially as I have a BCM200 and BCM400 spare, both of which work and I believe are licensed for 4.0 but just don't have the software installed.
Does anyone else have links that could guide me to a...
Hi All.
Here's the scenario:
Our production BCM 400 system went down with hard drive failure. We were just inside of still being maintained by BT, who came in and fixed it. They explained none of the HDDs they use are new, but refurbs - and this one was another dreaded (in my experience)...
Hi all.
I replaced the Base Tray, and all was good.
Hard drive was fine - as mentioned it was powering up fine with my external power adapter, but not appearing under Windows when trying to view on another system. I concluded that the USB to IDE adapter was a bit intermittent, and switched to...
Hi guys - sorry for the very delayed reply on here. Our production BCM400 decided to go to the wall - thankfully, we still just about have support with BT, and they came in and fixed. This has made me more resolute to get things sorted, so we have redundancy. I've also taken an image state...
Hi Brian.
Thanks for your reply. Even drives I know to be good are not working with my IDE to USB adapter, so unhelpfully it looks like that might have had it too....
An interesting thing I have noticed though - even with the BCM400 firing up in terms of powering on, the hard drive is not...
I recently bought a second hand BCM400 off of ebay. I expected it would just be good for spare parts - primarily to have a PSU and some of the modules, in case they go wrong on our production setup.
The unit was full of dust and muck, and initially it wouldn't boot to anything, purely just...
Thanks for clarifying - I'm going to try and contact BT today to see what can be done about this, and will report back here / mark this as answered once they have established the position (and hopefully fixed the problem!) either way. Cheers!
Many thanks for the input back from this. Your responses have jogged a vague memory that we may have hit this problem about 5 years ago.
According to the Elements Manager, we have 8 lines, with a 'trunk type' of BRI-ST4. These lines are ISDN lines provided by BT. I'm going to try to ask them...
Hi snowman50.
Many thanks for coming back to me. That's exactly the field I'd found previously, and tried putting the 6 last digits of the phone number. Unfortunately, when dialling out it still displays the overall number. Is there any other tick box I need to check somewhere? Perhaps I should...
