Hello Unclerico
I am in London, England.
There are lots of networking jobs advertised. The minimum they ask for is two years solid experience so finding jobs to apply for is a task in itself.
I am trying to break out of 1st line support into networking and I am finding it very difficult.
I have no networking experience and I don't say I do when applying for a job. When I am asked questions in interviews I answer them honestly and I do not try to make out I'm something I am not.

Hello
I find your assumption that I don't know any fundamentals surprising.
Everytime a new piece of equipment lands on your desk does the knowledge of how to operate it magically enter your head? If not then going by your logic you probably have very little knowledge of all the fundamentals...
Hi guys
Yes I have a CCNA and passed the BSCI. I know enough about EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, Multicasting, IPV6 etc. to get through these exams.
I used GNS3 and Boson (which do not require you to console onto anything) to pass these previous exams but now I want to start using a lab. As I stated in...
Thanks for the help and advise.
I don't want to appear stupid but I have connected up all the wires, switched on the power and sat in front of my PC.
Now what?
I have no idea how to open a session with the switches to start configuring them. Console wire is plugged in through the adapter...
Hello
I have arrived home with my basic lab for help with the BCMSN. Listed below is the Lab. I've never had one before or had contact with Cisco equipment.
I told the guy at 'Labs r us' what I was studying and he said this would do it on my very limited budget.
3 x Cisco WS-C2950-12 - latest...
Hello
I did not use the pass4sure or anything like it.
I used CBT Nuggets, Cisco press certification guide and the BSCI Lab Portfolio. Lab at home is GNS3 using 3640 IOS.
I went through the book 4 times and through the more tricky labs several times. Things I didn't quite understand I...
I passed my BSCI
I felt my head turning to concrete in the last few days of fevered study but I did it. 844 points.
I couldn't work out one of the simulations, it was one of the first questions and after that I was sure I had failed but continued regardless. And it paid off.
On to the BCMSN...
Thanks for your advice. I intend to buy a lab at the end of the month when I get paid.
I have just worked out the problem. I have been following the set up configuration word for word. The Cisco book omits the 'no shutdown' command from its text.
I can't belive I was so stupid as to not spot...
I have set up a lab topology as set out in the BSCI Lab Portfolio. It's the first one and has a switch in it. I've used the switch in the GNS3 and it doesn't work. The lab sets up 3 fa connections to the switch and I think the switch only does ethernet and not fast ethernet. Is that my problem...

Hi there,
I have now installed GNS3 on my Vista (2GB RAM) at home and I'm running into problems.
I have enabled the telnet client but when clicking on the telnet button on GNS3 it comes up with an error message.
'The system cannot find the file specified'.
I have an IOS listed in the...
This is a great piece of software. Thanks a lot for pointing me to it.
I have been setting it up. The the problem I am having is that when I run 3 routers, with my 3640 IOS, the CPU goes up to 100% with the idle pc set up already in place.
This is on my office PC running XP with 1GB of RAM...
I have downloaded dynagen and when I try an run it the CMD box pops up for a fraction of a second and then just shuts down. That is all I get.
Am I doing something wrong?
In the Cisco BSCI official exam cert guide it states;
'Traffic that matches a permit is affected by the route map, traffic that matches a deny or does not find a match in the list is not affected by the route map'.
This does not make sense to me. If traffic matches a deny it should be denied...
I am planning on taking the BSCI in November. I have completed the course and now I'm revising and practising on my router simulator.
I was interested to know the pass mark. Is it 790 or 850? If anyone has a great revision tip that would be great. The information is slowly seeping into my head...
