    Mandatory Profiles.V2 issue

We currently use roaming profiles in our environment but want to change these to mandatory profiles. I've configured the profile we're going to use as the default mandatory profile, copied it to the network folder called "mandatory", gave permissions to the correct security group, renamed...

How to find out who added a user to a security group

I was just wondering if there is a way to find out who added a user to a particular security group without using a 3rd party tool? Thanks

    Laptop shutting down randomly

To be honest I think it is more likely that it's turning off due to the cpu not receiving the pulses from the fan to tell it that it's on rather than the actual amount of heat as the machine turns off very quickly and little heat builds up in this time. I haven't got the laptop with me in order...

    Laptop shutting down randomly

Appreciate all the replies and ideas, thanks a lot! I tried taking the battery out and booting with the power cable in but had no joy there either, just the same results. I think cdogg has hit the nail on the head though with regards to having the spare parts as unfortunately I don't have a...

    Laptop shutting down randomly

When I had the cover off I couldn't see too much dirt around the fins but I suppose I could give it a quick clean anyway to see if it helps. Would the only way to check for a bad rpm sensor be to replace the fan?

    Laptop shutting down randomly

I've been in the BIOS and it still turns off even when in it & I've also already tried reseating the memory. I'll give the battery and replacement AC adaptor ideas a go later on when I get home. Thanks for the reply cdogg

    Laptop shutting down randomly

I have an Acer laptop that has started to turn itself off after roughly 15secs, although this time decreases to as little as 5secs if you keep trying to turn it on a few times in a row. On the first attempt of trying to start it it gets by the acer screen and then shows a 'Windows was not able...

How to change the order GPOs are applied

I'm trying to change a few registry settings using a client side extension gpo on a vista machine. I know that on a server 2003 domain gpos are applied in the order of local, site, domain,ou but is there anyway to change the order so that the local gpo is applied last but the other gpos still apply?

GPO to prevent computer passwords changing

Are there any group policy settings that can be applied to prevent computer accounts passwords from changing and becoming out of sync with the server?

    Outlook access over http

Do you think this will help the issue of connecting over http through outlook though?

    Outlook access over http

The certificate on the server is vaild until 2012 and it is self signed. Do I need to add this to the trusted root on the client?

    Outlook access over http

I gave the telnet command a try an everything seemed fine, blank screen just appeared. I have tried a different e-mail, different PC & different profile but no new users will be accepted

    Outlook access over http

OWA, POP3 & IMAP4 are all enabled! Because some users can still use http (ones who have used it before) I am thinking it is an autentication issue or some sort of cache that needs to be cleared. I have already tried to reboot the server & we don't use telnet. I have compared side by side by...

    Outlook access over http

All other users who have connected previously using http are fine but when I try to configure a user to use http who has not used http before cannot connect. I am 100% sure that it is configured correctly which is why I think the issue is with the exchange server!

    Outlook access over http

Sorry think we got our lines crossed. I have actually already configured the computer with those settings though and yes when asked for authentication I am using the domain\username format. I am only asked for those credentials once which makes me think the server is accepting the credentials...

    Outlook access over http

Sorry I may have explained this a little wrong. The client is not actually connecting through RWW. This works fine from the client computer but as this is a little awkward we use a setup of connecting to the exchange mailbox through http with exchange proxy settings set-up through outlook...

    Outlook access over http

We currently have exchange accounts in satelite offices which connect to our exchange over http, this has worked fine for as long as I can remember and any users who have previously used this are having no problems. I have set up the exact same settings on a new exchange account but this...

    Exchange server unavailable

I've just noticed something else which is very weird. When I try to access our remote email site from the domain controller which is not running exchange, it connects fine but when I try to connect to this site from a computer connected to this domain controller it does not work!!
