    TP-Link Access Points

How much space are you trying to cover? Depending on how it's setup, you would be better off using the ethernet ports. Like kermit01de said if one goes down in a WDS setup, anything behind the downed AP would be offline. Can you offer a little more detail about how you have it set up?

    Cannot connect to wireless network

You could also try knocking the router to G. Depending on wireless devices in the home (i.e cordless phones operating on 2.4Ghz or other interfering devices running on 2.4Ghz) there is a potential for interference.

Is this the right place for me.

okoko, I spent 4 years in the military here in the states. Most of my experience is in Cisco, with some knowledge of encrytion devices and wireless lan. When I left, I found that the largest wall I came to was in the form of experience. After being told that I was not being selected for a job...

showing "SSID not broadcast" on his laptop at this time

If what rphips suggest does not work, make sure that the wireless network you are trying to connect is broadcasting it's SSID. If it isn't, then you might have to go into the router and select the option to do so. If you do not want the SSID broadcasting, then go into the router and get the SSID...

Does cisco 851W can function as repeater?

http://cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps380/products_data_sheet0900aecd8028a9a9.html Here you can find more info about the product. There might be a possibility that you can use it as a repeater. I would take a look and see!

CCNA Certification....I am in need of wisdom...

Thank you for the advice. I am looking into purchasing books as we speak due to the ones I have being older.

CCNA Certification....I am in need of wisdom...

Goal 1: Study for thee CCNA exam, not only to pass, but to gain knowledge. I want to know what I am doing and have a cert to prove it (not just try to breeze thru the test, which I have heard can't really be done). Goal 2: Continue my venture into the IT world primarily revolving around Cisco...

Thank you for the recommendation. I will look into the sim as well as some of the equipment that you suggested.

    Switching/Routing Simulator

I have been searching the site for a little bit here trying to find a good switching/routing simulator. I don't have an issue paying for a good one, as long as I can try and get two seperate networks to talk via simulation. I don't have the money (as most likely don't) to purchase routers and...

    Recommendation

Becky, If you are going to spend around $5,700 on a 3560G, you might want to look into just buying another 4507. For that $5,700 you are going to pay for 48 ports (gig mind you), you might want to see if you can't squeeze some more money from your source. The way I see it, you would pay $5,700...

    Core Switch, Help choosing!

Maybe I am looking at this wrong. I was thinking that he was going to have two switches per closet, each switch going back the the distrobution switch. If that is the case, he would just daisy chain one 3550 off the other, then run the main access switch to the distro switch on the data center...

    Core Switch, Help choosing!

There are other alternatives that you could use if you wanted to cut cost. You can look into purchasing the Catalyst 3550 series switches. I work with and troubleshoot as well as configure and maintain these switches every day. They are rather cheap in comparison to the 3560s. Is there a...

    Enabling OSPF on a port

Thank you to all of you who have answered. It has been a few days since I have been able to check on the responses. Octavian, this worked for me as far as enabling OSPF on the ports. I guess to build off of that is my next question: How do I get VPN tunneling to work between two Cisco 3700...

    Enabling OSPF on a port

I am currently working with a Cisco 3700 router. The router had come with a previous config that was put there as a default, and just needed a few IP tweaks to run with our current system. We then switched the protocol to EIGRP to use a protocol we were more familiar with. This however failed...

    Creating a VLAN, 2950

The IOS on the switch I was working on, it seems, would not let me create the vlan in config t. This puzzled me because I was working on a switch just two days prior that would let me do so. It wasn't until I checked the IOS version that I realized that it was slightly out dated.

    Creating a VLAN, 2950

in enable mode: vlan database (vlan) vlan xx This created my vlan. Then in the configuration terminal mode I went into that vlans interface and issued it and IP and subnet mask (config) int vlan xx (confi-int) ip adress xx.xx.xx.xx. xx.xx.xx.xx Sorry for the sketchy display. I don't...

    Creating a VLAN, 2950

I have a 2950 that seems to hate me. I am attempting to start up a small network. It seems that the 2950's that I have require a managment VLAN as opposed to an IP that I can just give the switch. Aside from the switch IP and enable password, the switch will be dumb. However, I cannot figure out...

    Intemittent network disconnectivity

I would take a look at the config on the switch and make sure your port speed is appropriately set. By this I mean make sure that it is set to 100/1000 either auto or full, or what ever your exchange server requires. I experienced this once with one of our exchange servers. Half the users on the...
