I just install DB2 Express C on my Linux system through the command line. Everything evaluated successfully afterwards(db2val, etc)
I did the /opt/ibm/db2/V9.7/instance/db2icrt -p db2inst1. It looks like there is a instance of db2inst1 with no problem. But when I go into su - db2inst1 and try...
At my work we have a 24 hour system. We have a primary and back up. The other day we started getting error messages "products not servicing it's que". This was for all our company's personal execuatables(not AIX OS system core files). Obviousley, if these files are not running in the kernel...
Last night at my job I had to restart a couple of programs. They are actually scripts (.bat files) on a Windows 2000 Server Box. The way I was trained is that you stop the current ones running by clicking on the X in the right corner of the Windows cmd.exe window. My manager saw me do this and...
I have a question. If I set Chomd a+s to /bin/ls then all users should be able to excute ls with the permissions as if they were the owner of ls. The owner of ls is bin. In theory, if I did a Chmod a+s to /bin/ls then any user should be able to have root previlage for viewing and be able to see...
At work we had to shut down a process that was stuck/hanging. I wanted to do a kill -9 while others argued that a hard stop is bad and a kill is better. I think otherwise, if the process is hanging then it is already corrupted and there is no real chance of it recovering itself or 'finishing'...
The software wasn't waiting for any input from the user. Its more of an automation software that kicks off at a certain time and runs reports, ect. Would a corrupted file system cause this software to hang or would the software itself cause corrupted file system?
Does anyone know where I can get study material for this test? There isn't a Redbook for it and all IBM has to offer is a class which is way to expensive. I already know alot of this stuff which is on the test. But I still believe I need to study details in which I may not know. Or does anyone...
1) Hmm...interesting. Would this be a problem with the AIX kernel or more like the company software written was not written good and therefore does not work well with the kernel?
2) we tried both telnet and ssh.
3) Interesting. I'll never know for sure because I'll never be able to ask him. I...
At my work, there were a few processes that hung up. We tried to do a kill -9 and the process id numbers and they still wouldn't die. So, we rebooted. At this point, this system would boot up but not fully. We were able to ping the box but we were not able to putty into it. There was no console...
I know IBM doesn't list Gentoo as a supported Linux for DB2, but does anyone know if it would work unofficially? And does DB2 have to be used on the NFS? I want use my laptop to learn the fundamentals of DB2.
naw, i don't want to use ubuntu... to me it's a weak version of debian. i much rather use debian that that. i don't know....i think gentoo is looseing it's support and that's why it's takeing longer for it's release.
I found it with ls -i! Can I just do a rm and the node number? I feel funny executing that other code because it's a live system and I don't want to mess up anything.
I think I did a backspace when I typed in the filename of the application I was running that wrote it. I did a ls -lba but it didn't show the file. How can I get rid of it?
There were two files with the same filename that I created. One was 0 bytes and the other had like 3642 bytes. I tried to cat the file but it wouldn't. So I deleted the file. Afterwards, the file with 0 bytes was gone but the file that actually had bytes still remained. I tried to delete that...
Correction... The example above i took from the last link in which the poster called it etherchannel. BUT, I just found this article http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/systems/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.aix.commadmn/doc/commadmndita/tcpip_vipa_sample.htm
which shows the same example and...
Thanks, that last link was really helpfull. It appears to me that etherchannel is favored and disregards the need for vipa. ie- have 2 adaptors and combine them to make one logical adaptor with one logical ip address. so if one fails in this ethernet config the other takes over.
I want to get back into Lunix. A year ago I tried Gentoo 2007.0 but I had driver issues. I see now a newer version has yet to be released. So, I am thinking about Debain because it's my second favorite Linux and they just had a recent release in Dec. I prefer Gentoo though, but I don't want to...
