filmstrip: how does this work? 1

Any help here?

Filmstrip View Is Not Available

Picture Tasks Options and Filmstrip View Not Available on a CD-RW Drive

"View pictures as a filmstrip" is a Help and Support article too.

I checked my settings and the option suggested is already active in my folders. Any other tips out there that I might try?

You need to set a folder customization.

Right-click the folder and select Properties from the context menu.
Select the Customize tab.
Under "Use this folder type as a template:", select either Photo Album or Pictures and click OK.
From the Windows Explorer View menu, select Filmstrip to view the pictures from within the selected folder.

Your tip did the trick. I'm still not sure why the view will sometimes (and sometimes not) allow for filmstrip but the tip you gave has solved my problem.

You might want to increase XP's folder customization limit. By default it is only 400 folders. (Service Pack 2 does increase this).

Download the Microsoft Powertoy TweakUI:
Under Explorer, Customizations, set the value to between 800-1200.
