OK I'm a network manager at a school and I'd like to prevent users from downloading and saving EXE/ZIP files.

Is there any easy way of doing this?

USE something like GFI MailEssentials. IIRC, They do a freeware version which does exactly what you require.

Not been to the site but am I right in assuming this app is for e-mai attachments?

My problem is the files the students can download and save from the web

What proxy software are you using?

You can block files using IE and some registry hacks - but your best off doing it at the proxy.

Ashpp is right - do it at the proxy. If you are using a proxy server like ISA server then you can do it there. Smoothwall/Squid can also do it for you.

Many thanks for input. Don't know why I didn't think of that myself.
