Hi,

Trying to install Windows Xp Pro on Pc.

Have Asus P4P800 motherboard with RAID and 2 DiamondMax 120GB SATA Drives. I am trying to install XP and have the two disks in a RAID1 array. Both disks are connected via SATA1 and SATA2.

When trying to install XP Pro it says it cant find any hard drives.

Have configured RAID array, and have run Makedisk.exe onto a floppy and during installation of Xp have hit F6 to install the additonal storage devices and raid. Have selected the VIA XP raid option, and all installs ok, it then says hit enter to install windows, and then says no hard disks are found!

I beleive all Bios settings to be correct, and have flashed it with the latest version.

Any help appreciated as im really stuck!!

Hope ive posted enough info and all makes sense

Thanks.

Looking up your motherboard it seems to be using an Intel chipset for the raid so I'm not sure if you have been using the right driver.

"ICH5R with Integrated SATA and RAID 0, 1
Intel is the world's first chipset maker to integrate Serial ATA (SATA) and RAID 0, 1 functions into the South Bridge. The latest ICH5R chipset now delivers 150MB/s fast data transfer (SATA) and striping performance to enhance computing efficiency."

I think this is the link to your driver.

It does say this..
" 1. Please use 1009 or later version BIOS or you might have problem when using new IAA driver.
2. Support Windows XP and Windows 2000
3. Support RAID0/RAID1"

So make sure that your bios is upto date.

Hope that solves your problem.

Make the best use of what is in your power, and take the rest as it happens.
