We have used Alcatel & Avaya INDeX / IP Office in the past on hotel systems. I couldn't really say which is better unless I know what you need from the Premises Management system. It may also be worth checking that Mitel / Meridian integrate to a good Front of House system for billing / wake up calls etc.
Avaya use to have a system called "guestworks". I don't know if they still have it, but if so, it integrates with other vendors PMS systems to the voice mail, call accounting and pbx altogether. The guestworks system was just a Definity with a different name. The only way that I saw it set up was with a seperate Intuity for voicemail and callaccounting all in one box.
I would look for one that will unrestrict long dialing for the room and put the guests' name on the station form, open a mailbox, and activate a call accounting: all by scanning the 'guest's' credit card thru the PMS. Then u don't have to do all that stuff manually.
I agree 100% but what kind of system will do just that and be other than the main brand MITEL? I have nothing against the Mitel but we are not Mitel dealers. Looking for a smaller less locked down product.

Check out Guesttracker from RSI for the norstar system. I ran the demo program a few years ago and it looked interesting as PMS. the customer ended up just using the Personal Productivity Suite from RSI to set wakeups and verify room status.
While working at Avaya, I thought that I had talked to customers that had Guestworks Definitys that gave all those features when connected to some PM systems. I'm sorry, but I don't remember the name of the PMS though. I know that the Guestworks will open up the phone, put the name on, open a mailbox, and has the built into the Intuity call accounting that is serviced by HOmisco. All of this is connected to the PMS, as I worked on them for customers remotely many a time.
Thanks. BUT. RSI does not provide a full PMS screen management system for the Norstar. Spoke with them on the phone this AM. Great product for all other call accounting though.
Phone suite seems interesting .. but is priced beyond Mitel and can only support 8 digital admin phones. I'll check it out further but it seems limmitted.
Not accepting NOT AVAILABLE for an asnwer kept me digging. I've found that Voice Gate has designed a full system that provides complete automatic PMS integration for Norstar AND legacy Mitels. Including a call accounting program. Speaking with the sales rep the system sound exactly right. They are sending the documentation. I am very optimistic.
the biggest limiter for most small motels is the fact that people who design a PMS systm want $$,$$$.$$ For it and small operators canot afford the thousands of bucks wanted for a system that was marketed toward the big hotel chains.

Hitachi HCX 5100 is a great system for small hotels and if you purchase the welcomm unit it gives you great control over your hotel.
every hotel ive ever worked on had its own PMS system though, so I don't know where to send you for that. But with the welcomm it pretty much handles all that for you without and integration, though integration makes things alot more automatic
As I have stated earlier ,The CMPbx Phone Suite has been great for me I have had several installed for over 4 years now no problems ,Tech Support is amazing, Everything on board except PMS , Call Accounting ,Auto Attendant,Voice mail,Many one touch buttons on Console. Priced well below other systems.The companies desire to please their customers has been over the TOP.
