I have not be able to install CallManager 4.0.1 on a Windows 2000 server. I keep getting an error of Current OS version doesnt meet minumum. Is there a hack I need or something?

What version of the OS Service pack are you running? Is this on a real MCS or on a generic server?

It is a generic pc with Windows 2000 server, sp4 and SQL 2000. The error I get is something about the OS not meeting the minuim reqeurments.

Thanks

Here's the process I use to install CCM on a generic box. I haven't used it to try and install 4.0(1) but I know that it worked with 3.3(3) and I don't believe they changed anything. The patches that you load from Cisco include the MS service patches so I wouldn't load them before. Also do NOT install SQL 2000 before trying to install CCM. The Cisco installation process will install SQL for you.

1. Install Win2K from Microsoft discs

2. Apply the attached registry file which adds the folliwng entries. (These trick the CCM install software into thinking that the computer is an approved MCS server).

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cisco Systems\Model]
"Hardware"="MCS7825"
"Memory"="512"
"Speed"="1000"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Spirian\System Info\OS Image]
"Version"="2000.2.3"

3. Install the 2000.2.6 OS upgrade (Download from CCO)

4. After the first reboot it may give a DCOM error. This is because the upgrade process sometimes disables the If this is the case simply re-enable and start it.

5. After all is finished go ahead and install CCM from the Cisco discs.

6. You should now have a functioning Call Manager on non cisco hardware!

Do you know where to get the 2000.2.6 OS upgrade if you dont have a CCO account? I cant seemto find it anywhere

You can't... it's only available on CCO. You have to have a current service contact on a Cisco voice product to have access to the section to download it. You also have to agree to a lengthy contact in order to download it due to "encryption" content included under export licenese.

Would you know what is the cheapest CCO I can get?

You don’t need to install SQL 2000 or 2000.2.6 OS Upgrade on a generic Windows 2000 or Windows2000 Advance Server to get CallManager 4.0 working. Follow the steps below and you should have a working CallManager 4.0 box in your Lab.

1). Get a decent spec PC. (PIII 1Ghz Processor and 512Mb memory and 20Gb hard drive should be alright.)

2). Install Windows 2000 server or 2000 Advance server and apply all the latest service packs and hot fixes (including IE 6sp1)

3). Apply the following registry hack

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cisco Systems\Model]
"Hardware"="MCS7835"
"Memory"="512"
"Speed"="1000"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Spirian\System Info\Os Image]
"Version"="2000.2.5"

4). Once you have performed all the above steps the you can install CallManager 4.0 and just let it run until the installation is finished. (This may take a while.) It will install SQL2000 Sp3 and CallManager4.0 for you.

PS: This is not recommended for production environment.

I am not able install CCM 3.3 on the generic server. after I do all upgrade 2000 advance server, SP4, ie6sp1, and registry hack
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cisco Systems\Model]
"Hardware"="MCS7835"
"Memory"="512"
"Speed"="1000"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Spirian\System Info\Os Image]
"Version"="2000.2.4".
Insert disk1 and run from win95\mcsboot.exe. the scren avvid come up and hang right there. Do you guy have any idea ? thanks

Here are instructions how to install Cisco CallManager on non-MCS platform:

1. Download FDIMAGE.EXE utility (can be found in LINUX or FreeBSD utilities).
2. Insert Disk1 (Hardware Detection) into CD-ROM
3. Insert empty formatted diskette.
4. In command prompt type “FDIMAGE D:BOOTIMG.BIN A:” to copy CD boot file to floppy.
5. Open A:\AUTOEXEC.BAT in Notepad.
6. Search for “s:\tools\systype s:\tools\ssstksys.ini” line.
7. After this line add 2 lines:
set XIMAGE=7825
goto CPQ7825
Actually you can select any another “platform”, listed in AUTOEXEC.BAT.
8. Save AUTOEXEC.BAT.
9. Insert Disk1 and this floppy to machine you want to install CallManager and boot from the floppy.
10. Follow the installation instructions…

This works with CallManager 3.3(3) installation CDs.

Did what you said, no luck.. I've tried multiple images (one that i would think would use standard intel based hardware)

I get the image process completed, then it goes to boot, and it scrolls the win2000 text bar at the bottom (right before it goes to the win2000 gui splash), then just hangs there...

Thoughts?
