For those that are considering installing the Novell Account Manager 3.0 product, please rethink this choice.

The product is good, and it will do what you exepct, but it does not function the way some people would expect.  In NAM 2.1, you could administer the Windows Domain and the info would be synced into DS.  This is not true with NAM3.0.

If you are looking for a product that will sync user ID's and atributes along with their password, it would be better to look into a product called DirXML.  You have to install DirXML when you install NAM3.0 anyway (was really disapointed when I found this one out), so to save your self a head ache, just go with DirXML.

If you have already purchased the NAM3.0 product, there is no upgrade path to DirXML.  But you CAN get an exchange for the license, we have been able to do it for three customers already.  You just need to screem loud enough with your sales rep.

This is a new forum for TT, and I hope to get some very helpfull FAQs posted on some great information I have gotten from Novell during my past installs of DirXML.  Stay posted.

Can you upgrade to Novell Nsure Identity Manager v2.0(NIM/IDS)? This is great at syncing novell and windoze users and passwords, includes DirXML v2.0 and updated drivers that seem to actually work out of the box - yay!

Here is what we have:

Windows 2003 domain
Netware 6.5 domain
UNIX / Peoplesoft servers

We want to synchronize all user accounts across all platforms using Novell Account Manager.  I would be happy if I could get the account synchronization working on Netware and Microsoft to start.

Here are the steps I have taken so far.  I installed eDirectory 8.7 onto the Windows Domain Controller.
I have installed Account Manager on the Netware 6.5 server.

I can get to the website for Account Management but I have no idea what to do from there.  I have no idea how to get the password synchronization working in DirXML either.

Once I get the Microsoft / Netware working I will try to tackle the Unix /Peoplesoft parts.

Any tips to get me pointed in the right direction would be gratly appreciated.

NSure Idendtity Manager is a very good tool for keeping Windows Server (AD) and Novell Netware (EDIR) in sync.  Here is what we did.

Install Novell IDManager on the Netware Box.  Create a driver for the Windows (AD) Box.  Install remote loader on the Windows Box (no need to load Edir on Windows).  Make sure to configure the correct OU for your Windows driver that you want the system to sync up.  Turn on the drivers and watch it run.  If you need to you can write specific rules to do different things but it works great between AD and EDIR right off the get go.  Getting it to sync to multiple EDIR machines is where I am running into difficulty.  Will be posting a question on that shortly.
