Displaying Filename in MIF document without the extension

jbpierce (TechnicalUser)

Maybe someone can help with this one. I have used Framemaker for some time as a general publication format. We are just now getting into some of the finer details of document structures.

For ease our documents are saved with a name that matches the document number. I am looking for a way to display the filename on the master page without the file extension showing.

This nees to be on the master pages of our templates for consistency.

By displaying the filename variable I do get the document number, but have yet been unable to display the results without the extension.

Being new into playing with variables and cross-references, I could use some suggestions on this.

How about inserting the filename variable into the reference pages and then using some sort of crossreference and formula to convert the variale into text, subtract teh extension and display the results on the given master pages?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jamie
