can't add hidden files

hello
i try to add a hidden file to vss but when i click the add-button no hidden files are shown in the explorer that opens. i changed the "list files of type" to "all files (*.*)" but still the hidden files won't appear. i know that i could add them with drag and drop but there must be another way to...or not?
