PLEASE LET US KNOW HOW THE VOICEMAIL IS INTERGRATED INTO THE NORSTAR

I currently have an 8x24 Norstar systems with DR 5.1 software. I am using Ameritech Centrex lines with vmail provided by ameritech. Each user is currently receiving stutter dialtone when they have a message. I am not sure whether or not I need to have caller id cards installed on the trunk mods in order for this to work. I am hoping to at the very least receive "Message for You" when there is a message on the centrex line.

Ameritech would have to send the feature command for message notification. Never done it, but like to hear if you get it working.

You will need to have the line where the message waiting shows up to be on a Caller ID card first. second you will have to have the phone company give you "visual Message Waiting" This is a FSK tone burst that comes across the Line from the CO in the same way as Caller ID does. Actually there is a bit/Byte in the caller ID string that is the MWI on/off. (you do not need to have caller ID on the line but the card must be a Caller ID card)

last item is in programming Terminals & Sets-->"DN"-->Telco Features-->Feature Assign-->"Line Number that has MWI"-->Extl Vmsg Set: set to Y

this will let the external voice mail set the msg indicator(sorry no light) on your phone.
