wordpro error

When i'm want to open old wordpro files, the application error notification appears: "An application error has occurred in the program - unknown - Crash information will be saved to the NOTES.RIP in.. Please report this crash to the vendor of the faulting application" . Even the back-up file corrupted and can not be open. can anyone help me on this. thanks.
