Ever since we upgraded from v3.2/IP406v2 to v9/IP500 our 5410's have had an issue with the speakerphones making a strange noise when calling internally. It starts out really soft after using the speakerphone for about a minute or two then gradually gets louder. The sound itself sounds almost like feedback. If the users hang up then redial it works fine. What could cause this? We didn't change out our digital station expansion modules because our VAR said they'd work fine moving from the IP406v2 to the IP500.

Thanks!

@StubbedmytoeonIPO: The phones indeed did the firmware upgrade when we brought the IP500 online.
@smokinjoe2938: I did some digging online, but wanted to confirm that this goes in NoUser->Source Numbers correct? What will this do and will it restart anything? Right now there's nothing there.

yes add it to the no user source number field, and you will need to then reboot the phone

Should 'Account Status' be disabled? I've added allow_5410_upgrade and will test and let you know.

Oh ok, I'll go ahead and enable account status. Should this be enabled at all times or just for this exercise?

So far I'm cautiously optimistic. I tried it with two users and so far so good. I'll advise further once a few more folks can try it.

So it seems like it's sort of fixed. Would a bad a ground cause this kind of issue? I traced out the ground from where the installer tied everything together and while it's grounded to the rack, the rack itself isn't grounded. Our 406v2 was hooked up this way with no problems but I now remember our installer saying something about the ground.

you do need a good ground such as building steel but not sure if this would be related to your speaker issue.

Is it possible the digital expansion modules didn't get fully upgraded and if so how could we check/fix it?

open manager and then go to control unit from there you can see your modules as well as current software release
