I have 2 IPOs configured in a SCN. Site A (IP 500 V2 7.0)is the main site Site B is a new site. Site A has a VMPro server (Version 7.0) locally. I have site B (IP 500 V2 8.1)configured as Centerlized Voicemail. Everything works great except running site B's shortcode *41 (contact Closure) from Site A. Why I need this is because Site B has a Door Phone that autodials an Auto Attendant. The Auto Attendant in being done on the VMPro server at Site A. So when you configure the Auto Attendant to Open the door (Contact Closure *41 IPO Site B), it opens the door at Site A.

I have tried:
1. Creating a new shortcode *338 in Site A where it pluses relay ONE using Line Group ID 20 (an H323 line to Site B in the SCN).
2. Creating a user EXT 277 on Site B that has an unconditional forward to shortcode *41
3. Created a shortcode on site A using feature BREAK OUT using the telephone number as the IP address of Site B like this 192*186*1*12 and Line Group ID 20 and tried Line Group ID 0
4. I also tried creating a new shortcode *337 the does the same thing as shortcode *41.

The above resulted as:
In trial 1. I hit *338 and it still tries to open the door at Site A
In trial 2. If you type in the user's extension number it works fine from site B, but from site A it want to go to the user's Voicemail. I then turned off the user's Voicemail and now site A "Number Busy." From site B there was no change except after the system opens the door the extension rings busy (which is not a big deal).
In trial 3. Nothing happens, like the system is waiting for more numbers, I then press # and it says "Incompatible Disc."
In trial 4. was the same result as using the original *41 shortcode.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

You should avoid using different firmware releases in a SCN. Especially when you use VMPro.

Thank you for the fast reply!! Do you think that could be causing the problem? I also forgot to mention that I can run any short codes that are on Site B doing any of what was tried. However, short code 41 is the only one that does not work.

if you send the digits to the remote IPO they should be treated as if they were dialled locally on that system so I don't see why a basic short code should not work

SC:*338
TN:*41
Feature Dial
Line id <ID of SCN trunk>

However I am not able to test this & I doubt that Avaya expected a user at 1 location to be opening a door at another.

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

This works just fine. Get dial tone from the other side and punch in *41.

Done this for a customer using his mobile phone to open the gates at different locations/systems.
FNE 00 dial tone System A, then ## for dial tone system B, *# dial tone system C, ** dial tone system D.

Kind regards

Gunnar

Thank you everyone for replying. I have tried changing the short code as IPGuru suggested,
SC:*338
TN:*41
Feature Dial
Line id <ID of SCN trunk>

With the above, nothing happens, like the system is waiting for more numbers, I then press # and it says "Incompatible Disc." as in my 3rd trial above.

Gunnaro: I have tried using what you suggested, but I am getting exactly what the same thing: "nothing happens, like the system is waiting for more numbers, I then press # and it says "Incompatible Disc."

Could it be that the IPO versions are different? Something wrong with the new IPO?

Thanks again everyone!!

Nope, I just did the same thing in my lab, an R8.1 connected to R.7 in SCN.
It triggers the relay.

Kind regards

Gunnar

I would change the *41 Shortcode to this:
*41/./dial/SCN line

Thanks for the suggestion intrigrant, but the IPO still runs the local contact closure.

I have done this before and it always works with any feature which isn't a phone feature.
i.e. not follow me, DND, divert etc.
Features like paging, contacts, set huntgroup night/OOS status etc wll work like that over a SCN.
You must have missed something.

intrigrant, I agree! I am sure I did something wrong, but I am not sure where I went wrong. I don't think the SCN was setup incorrectly. So I am at a loss at the moment. Can you suggest another method I can run the 41 short code?

Observe with Monitor, only the standard options in the Calls filter enabled but with "Shortcodes" selected.
Add the shortcode *41/./Dial/H.323 line ID to the users shortcode list, dial *41 on that users phone and see what monitor tells you.
Last time I tried was on 8.1 and then it worked.
If you are not familiar with monitor traces ( sometimes it looks like Klingon )then post it here.

Thank you very much intrigrant. I will be down at Site B tomorrow to test. I will post the report here tomorrow.

I've done it more or less the same way, but I made new short codes.

Are you sure your SCN is setup properly, with SCN functionality?

Kind regards

Gunnar

Below is what I could grab for now. I am monitoring Site B (IP of IPO 172.80.6.11), calling from Site A (IP of IPO 172.80.10.3) using short code *123 as Break Out with line ID 20. I get a dial tone from Site B, I then dialed *41.

Gunnar, the door is still not opening. I am trying your way now. I see on yours it says "sending_complete=1" while mine log says "sending_complete=0"
