Hey guys……taxed my Brain enough on this one.
I have a BCM 50 rel 2.0 with CallPilot. I want to be able to forward (Feature 4) the reception phone extension 200 to an informational mailbox. I have built mailbox number 301 and have initialized it. However when the receptionist forwards phone to 301, she gets a not in service message.
I've also tried using a regular subscriber mailbox. I need to be able to do this for this customer because they need to forward their phone to one of four different messages but they decide which to use.

Thanks again guys in advance for all of your help. This is one of the best sites out there.

Steve

I don't mind coming to work, but that eight hour wait to go home is a bitch.

To call forward to a mailbox you have to use feature 984 not the traditional forward.

Ok….correct me if I'm wrong. F984 forwards to voicemail, not to an individual mailbox. Remember the customer wants to be able to pick from one of four different messages.

No your correct. But Callpilot does not have the ability to forward your phone to someone else's mailbox.

as stated above you can't forward anyone's mailbox other than your own.

You could create a phantom DN with a mailbox and forward to that phone. The mailbox would have to be a subscriber box, but use the ALT greeting and set it to not receive messages.

If you want the caller to able to return to the AA after listening to the message tell the caller to press #, otherwise it will play the greeting and hangup.

allworxguy.............please explain how to build a phantom DN in the BCM50. I can do this all day every day on CS1K.
I have attempted this, but when trying to forward to that number, display reads, not in service.

Thanks,

Steve

Plug a phone into an active port. Set the call forward to voice mail and unplug the phone. You might have to put an ANS DN (no ring) for that DN on an active phone to keep forwarding alive.

What is the reason to forward a reception set rather then utilize CCR or AA that was designed to achieve what you are after?.
Knowing "why" and not just what you want can help too.
i.e why not record a separate night greeting with CCR pointing to info boxes and utilize service mode when needed which is all designed to do just that?

The customer wants an easy way at the end of the day to be able to select one of these messages to inform their patients that their office is closed and the doctor on call is Dr. "so and so" at this phone number. I understand that CCR has menus and transfers and info mailboxes, etc.. You mentioned activating service modes. is there an easy way to activate four different service modes so this customer can accomplish what they want?

First off Allworxguy has the best suggestion, even if you have to purchase 4 M7100 used sets and mount in the phone room (or old ATA's?).
I am asking for more details for a work around that for a challenge but still feel there is some info missing such as why not use routes and external transfer? just because its "too easy"?
Is there a CCR currently setup?

You could try this way and do it using your main greeting (AA/GRTG/GRTG/X)

Record as follows:
AA/GRTG/GRTG/1 - You have reached the doctors office, for on duty Nurse Ratched dial XXX-XXXX.
AA/GRTG/GRTG/2 - You have reached the doctors office, for on duty Doctor Feelgood dial XXX-XXXX.
AA/GRTG/GRTG/3 - You have reached the doctors office, for on duty Docta Johnny Fever dial XXX-XXXX.
AA/GRTG/GRTG/4 - You have reached the doctors office, for on duty Doctor Who dial XXX-XXXX.

Log into mailbox 102, press 99 and choose which greeting should play, 1, 2, 3 or 4.

I think most of us have done tons of doctors offices and most will use the "Emergency Mailbox" method.
"You have reached the doctors office, for after hours emergencies press X"
X = a Guest mailbox
The mailbox is setup for outbound "notification".
There is 5 entries for

Thirdly you could simply just record the greeting as needed.
"You have reached the doctors office, for on duty Doctor press 1"
1 = PATH 1/LEAVEMSG to Maibox YYY
YYY = INFO Mailbox (instead of Subscriber).

When change of guard:
F980
YYY
Record: for on duty Doctor Oz please dial XXX-XXXX

So there is different ways but some more to it then others.

Outta ammo!

wouldn't it be easier to just forward the line to the doctor on call? *72 then in the morning *73 to cancel the call forward
