I was asked to add an extension to a Meridian 1 system with about 400 extension capability. The new extension does not initialize using a spare phone of the same type as the rest - a M2616. It goes through a endless loop of the LCD lights flashing in sequence. Does something else have to be done to enable a port possibly? Possibly this is a SL1 - I cannot tell for sure.

You might have to program the TN. What have you done so far to get it going?

Thanks for the fast reply. So far I did my cross connects from the STA block to the jack. I chose an unused station port, that is to say one that was never used before.

Thanks for the link - looks like everything I need. What kind of cable will I need? 9/25 pin? Null modem?? I assume what IU will probably have to do is manually assign a DN to the TN - is that correct?

If your system does not already have a VT100 or compatible terminal connected to it, there is probably a modem. If not, and your system is wall mounted, there are probably three DB25 cables coming out of the "main" cabinet. Pick one of the unused cables and adapt it to a PC with a serial port and terminal emulation software.

Yes, you have to do everything from scratch. Nothing is programmed on a TN by default.

The station blocks are not well numbered. How can I determine the TN number?
