8.1 Flare Comunuicator basic Soft phoneHelpful Member!(3)

I have a set up where the customer wishes to use a basic soft phone and they are currently at V4..

If I move them up to V8.1 teleworker then they need preferred edition and thats a huge cost. for a smal amount of users....

So looking at:

Upgrade 8.1
Additional Endpoint licences
8.1 Softphone licecnes using Flare Communicator as interface.

Has anyone used this as yet ?

I would use the already existing softphone which is much better then Flare.
And you can also go to 8.0 where preferred is not needed.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Gupz, if you are using an upgrade licence you don't need preferred edition to be able to use teleworker or Power user licences etc. That is only a requirement (stupidly) for new systems. So just upgrade then buy the teleworker licence(s) and use the video softphone, plus Flare is basically just sh1t smile

And i am mistaken, this was introduced in 8.0

the softphone is also found in the 8, 8.1 Admin install files. its a fairly painless installation.

So just to clear up for 8.0 / 8.1 preferred is or isnt required ?

I was informed it was by my Dist.

The cost of the Teleworker licence is the same as the 8.1 softphone licence...

Interface is the key is here I guess

If you want a nice looking tool that can do less than an analog phone then spend your money on it.
I would go for the softphone and not Flare.
