Hello all!

I am new to this forum and hoping you can help me proceed in the right direction.

I am working with a Nortel Network T7316E phone running on a BCM50 port with a BCM expansion. The old office administrator left without telling anyone what the user ID and password was for the phones. We are trying to change the extension names, voicemail greeting, and the time on the phone. We are unable to login.

I have contacted a technical support company located in Michigan and they let me go at this point because they could not help me further.

Upon further research, I downloaded Element Manager onto my computer. I used a crossover cable plugged into the OAM port on the BCM50 (left port) and then tried the IP address 10.10.11.1 (and set my computer to be 10.10.11.2) and then tried the default user ID and password. No luck.

I Googled some more and eventually found this manual: http://www.comm-links.co.uk/pdf_documents/BCM50%20...

So I tried using the port next to the OAM port and changing the IP, and still no luck.

At this point I do not know what direction to go. Any help or advice would be absolutely wonderful. I have searched this forum but have not come up with a thread that is useful for my situation.

Thank you in advance!!

Passwords and password resets aren't allowed to be discussed on this forum. You might post your question in the BCM forum just to be sure.

I assume that you have tried contacting them and requesting the credentials?

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Yes, we have tried that and it doesn't work. I'm not really looking for passwords on here, I'm mostly wanting help with Element Manager because I have all of the default user IDs and passwords for that.. so it has to be something I'm doing wrong I'm assuming.

Assuming the default passwords you've found don't work for element manager, then you're out of luck without having an Avaya support engineer reset the password via their backdoor nnsupport account and the password of the day, or reimaging the hard drive and rebuilding/restoring from a backup. If the telset admin passwords weren't changed, you may be able to do some programming via the telephone set.

When you connect to the OAM, can you ping the 10.10.11.1 IP?

Check the customer's IP netrwork and try guessing at the IP connected to LAN1 of the BCM using ping. You may have to default the system and reprogram it as worst case scenario.
