When I dial *17 from either a 9608 or a portable 3740, I don't go directly to the phone's MB; it asks for an extension.

System is just started up, not much config for now, shortcodes to default. Is it a bug or something I need to add?

I imagine voicemail has defaulted to Intuity mode, it does that in Intuity mode

OK, all my colleagues start VM PRO in Intuity, and it's the first instance of this happening... also the first integrated VM Pro; shouldn't be different though?
