IE9 and Widnows Authentication - Soooo Slooooow!

Does anyone know why any website I try to use that runs on windows authentication is diabolically slow.

Whether originally logining in, refreshing a page or navigating the site, each page takes an EON to load.

If I use FireFox it is instant, If I use IE8 it's instant, jsut IE9 is a total dog?
