What IP phones are compatible with this system and how do I program the phantom tn's? It seems that the phantom tn's usually start at 64 but when I try and add one it gives me an invalid tn error. Thanks in advance for any help!

It will do as IP phones use a Virtual supl(TN) which it probably bombs you out at type. pretty much all Nortel Ip sets will work you may find that you just have to set the odd one up a bit differently. However looking at you SLT you dont appear to have any other IP based services licensed, so I would question wether you had a sig server & a node configured to support any IP sets. If your not sure if you have a sig ser try:

LD 117, stat ss or stat serv

If it doesnt return any info on the servers & provide you a node ID its safe to say you dont have the kit to do the job.

Remember if it doesn't work hit it harder

I think I am fully set based on the info below: What TN range should I be using to build a set? I thought I read somewhere that is should be 64 0 0 0 for the first one. I try and do a new i2004 with that tn and no dice I get an error:

So it looks as if they started building phantoms at 100...There is 100 0 1 0 - 100 0 1 2 built already...I can start building at 100 0 1 3 without any problem I am guessing?

Are you sure you have a Signalling Server, Media Card or ITG Line card installed to support IP Phones? As just configuring an IP Phone will not in itself give you a working IP Phone.

So if I do this:

Then I could start creating IP sets at 61 0 0 0?

I understand I need the proper equiptment to make the IP phone work and I believe based on the earlier "stat ss" and "stat serv" that I do have the proper equiptment? Thanks again!

So I have successfully added the virtual supl of 96 and successfully (nearest I can tell) added an i2004 set to tn 96 0 0 0. Now I am trying to get the phone to connect to the pbx and it keeps failing to connect to the server and restarting. I put the ip address of the sig server in for s1 and I have a feeling that is incorrect. I have the ip address of the vgmc device as listed below:

Go to support.avaya.com. Click on "Products". Enter "Communication Server 1000M" in the "Enter Product Name" box, then choose "4.0.x" in the realease pull-down box. Click on "View All" under the "USER GUIDES & TOP DOCUMENTS" category. Download a copy of both the "IP Line: Description, Installation, and Operation" and "IP Phones: Description, Installation, and Operation" NTP. Review those documents.

You need to enter the Node IP Address against S1 this is'nt the Sig server IP Address, its like a Virtual IP address for IP Phones to register to. The theory is that if the SIg Server fails A Media Card tkes over, but still using the Node IP address.

Thanks to everyone’s reply’s (and a maintenance call to ATT [bigsmile]) I was able to get this working. Something had failed on the VGMC card and it wasn't communicating even the thought the PBX was able to ping the VGMC card nothing on the network could ping either interface. I while att was here troubleshooting that I managed to figure out how to login to element manager and the tech showed me where the node number and address was. All we end up doing is resetting the VGMC and the phone started registering no problem. Thanks again everyone! As always I couldn't do half of what I do with this PBX without tek-tips!
