Meridain Mail-adding a VP8 card

I am working on a meridan mail system with 4 nodes. Node 3 has a failed disk with 24 ports in node. Node 4 has 16 ports in use from 2 VP8 cards. Can I add a VP8 to node 4 and reallocate 8 of the ports from node 3 and what is the procedure to accomplish this. This is just a temporary fix as upgrade is coming in 5 weeks to callpilot. I am new to meridain mail.
