Never had to deal with an offline mode upgrade before, but have a client that wanted to try 3.2.69 as since 3.2.67 they have lost ring on call forwarded calls. I upgraded in offline mode, it came back and said all units successfully upgraded, but now the 403 is just red. Is there something I'm missing with an offline upgrade that I need to do or has this thing bricked?

Possibly, but if you have a DTE lead they can usually be rescued (does a 403 need an adaptor/different lead ?)

In Offline mode you need to ensure you have a static IP address on your PC/LapTop.
Connecting to the unit now with the correct BOOTP.
If no luck then it’s the DTE option.

I did have a static IP. I just attempted a DTE and no dice on that either. It goes to the loader screen, I can enter the commands, power cycle it, but it just comes back up red again. I think the unit is fried.

Do you have Manager up with correct Bootp IP and bin file after you DTE the unit?

I think I am doing it right, I haven't done a DTE maint in a long time. When I power it back on after the AT commands it says "Received BOOTP Response :AC.10.28.C9". But the red light never goes out and nothing else comes up in hyperterminal.

When it boots, do you see info coming by?
If yes then it is probably not fried.

Keep banging the escape button when you plug the power in.
When it has no software then this step can be skipped.
Sometimes you need to use 192.168.42.10 as IPaddress but you will see it coming by when it is that far.
Delete all bootp entries and add only the one you need with the right mac address, IPaddress and bin file.

Give the PC a fixed IP address 192.168.42.111
Open Manager and make sure the tftp service is enabled under preferences
In manager open the tftp log viewer
Connect the NIC of the PC to LAN1 of the IPO
connect the IPO with a serial cable to the PC
Open Putty or any other comm.software and open a session on the Com port of the PC 34800,8, N, 1
Keep focus on Putty and boot the IPO while repeatingly pressing escape until you get a message with bootloader bla bla
type AT-X ( capitals! )
it will respond with "erasing image......."
Wait on a reboot and check in the Manager tftp log viewer if the unit tries to load a IP4xxx.bin file.
You'l see the ipadress used, the MAC addres and the file name
If the unit cannot download the file then add a BootP entry in Manager with the MAC addess, IP address and file name as seen in the tftp log
Now it should grab the firmware
if the download aborts at 70% then first load the intermediate version 3.2.999 if it is a 406V2 or Small office before loading the definitive 3.2 version
( had to do it today myself )
By the way why not upgrade to 4.2 for SOE or 5 for 406v2/412 ? These versions are a lot better as 3.2

It's a 403. Thanks for all the responses. I was able to get it back. I had to disable the other BOOTP entries and then it connected properly. Thanks again everyone!

It's a 403, that's why R3.2 only. I tried getting them to at least put in a 406V2, but they don't want to spend the money.
