I'm looking for some very sharp Nortel tech that can help me with a perplexing situation I'm having cutting over T1's from an old FMT-150 system over to a Cisco ONS-15310-(MA/CL).
Overall, the system are basically the same. Individual T1's into a optical multiplexer, over a OC-3/OC-12 circuit to the distant end. Pretty simple and straight forward; however, that is about where it ends!
The MSL-100 has two types of RCC's and standard RCC0 and a RCC2. Honestly, I don't know the difference since I'm the optical guy not the switch guy. Anyway, there is a bundle of 10 T1's on both RCC's.
The system is using D4/B8ZS and 6X50AB cards on both sides. The first 10 T1's cut over very easily with a small issue with timing on the first T1 (messaging T1) which was quickly corrected. The remaining T1's were cut over nicely. However, that is where it ended. Once we started to cut over the messaging T1 on the second bundle, it would never sync to the distant end. The BER remained high and would never sync.
We validated everything on both system and NOTHING was different with the exception of the RCC0/RCC2 modules the switch tech mentioned but didn't have a clue as to what was different.
Now...if I put the T1's back on the FMT150, they work so there has to be some dip switch settings on the cards set we are unaware of. Unfortunately, no one has the username or password to access the FMT150 so I can not verify anything that may be different between the to bundles.
Does anyone have any similar issues or assistance they can shed on resolving this situation. Any assistance would be great.
As for the Cisco ONS-15310-MA. There are 4 84-T1 cards (slot 1 and 2) and (slot 5 and 6). Currently all T1's are on slot 5 and 6. Timing is derived from T1-1 on slot 5 which is the messaging T1 for the first bundle.
