Help on Setting KX-TEM 824 to Cisco Router VoipHelpful Member!(3)

Greetings PBX Gurus

Is there anyone can solve my problem ? Here's the case :
I got a working fine PBX system with KX TEM 824 and a Cisco Router with Voip Card. When I test with an SLT connected directly to the router, it works just fine to make a call to a Voip number. How to set the PBX system, so all of the ext can make a call using the voip ? the PBX has 6 CO's. to make an outgoing call we use 9/81.
Please help :(

5. Voice over IP The KX-TES 824 wasn't specifically designed for VoIP lines but we've found that you can use a VoIP telephone adaptor (ATA) to fit between your router and your standard KX-TES824 line output.

Thx for the answer Otoni79

I've installed the telephone adaptor on the router in it works when I use SLT phone. So I've tried to put a cord from CO5 to the ATA slot. But I don't know what to set on the KX-TEM 824, so all of the ext can make a call trough that router. I'm completely new in PBX :)

I have installed several KX-TES824 but haven't done VOIP with it.

Where have you connected the Telephone port (RJ11) from the Telephone Adaptor to?

Which jack in the PBX?

I've connected CO5 to the voice interface on my router, but i don't know how to manage an outgoing call trough CO5. The voice interface works just fine, cause i have test it with a SLT phone. Here's the scheme :

ext1 -- PBX1 -- router w/ voice interface -- PBX2 -- ext2

I'm such a dumb @ these things :(
thx for helping

VoIP telephone adaptor (ATA) to fit between your router and your standard KX-TES824 line output.

AND NOT

I've connected CO5 to the voice interface on my route

Did you mean you connected CO5 to the voice interface on you router through the VoIP telephone adaptor (ATA)?

No, what I mean is I don't use a telephone adaptor, but I use an FXO card on my cisco router. Here's what i got from cisco :

"The Cisco Foreign Exchange Office (FXO) interface is an RJ-11 connector that allows an analog connection to be directed at the public switched telephone network's (PSTN's) central office or to a station interface on a private branch exchange (PBX). The FXO sits on the switch end of the connection. It plugs directly into the line side of the switch so the switch thinks the FXO interface is a telephone."

According to that description what I have to do now is manage how an outgoing call can go to specified CO ( in this case CO5 ), isn't it ? or have I missing something here?

I've test the FXO with a single line phone to use voip an it works. But I don't know how to set the PBX :(

Okay,understood.

Now with the CO5 connected to the voice interface on your router.

The KX-TES824.To access Line1,you dial 81.To access Line2 you dial 82 and so on.

Therefore for Line 5, dial 85.

Is the CO Line configuration done right using PBX Maintenance console?

If so,you should be able to call using extensions b

Is it the same with TEM ? where can i find menu to set the access line? or is it by default ?
because when i tried to make an outgoing call only 9/81 that works ( I have CO1-CO3 that connect to PSTN ).
In KX-TE maintenance console which menu should I check ?

On [41x] x=day/night/lunch, for CO5 it's 'normal'. What should I choose ?

Program 400 co connect. You can also use ars for call routing by dialled number using 9 as access and number prefix to direct call to the VoIP or line 1-3

Is CO5 enabled for connection?

Check.

On the console menu ,Go to

3.CO then 3.DETAIL.

Check if CO5 is ticked/checked.

Thx a lot guys .... it works...
your advises are useful
,,,
d-(^_^)-b

I set the CO5[414]->DISA|OGM1,
CO5[405]->outgoing call checked,
CO5[400]->connection checked|dial mode->DTMF,
CO1-CO3&CO5[404]CO Line group->1,
CO5[419]automatic line access->unchecked,
CO1-CO3[419]automatic line access->checked.

when I dial 9 it direct me to the idle between CO3-CO1, and when I dial 81 it direct me to CO5 ( Voip router ).

Make sure you have co line 5 on a flex button on your apt's !!I have an ata setup here and you should be able to use default co line values and i would put the fxs into its own
trunk group

ata output is indentical to pstn line -48volt with 90-105volt 50hz ringing the 824's default values should work fine! in order to access line 5 on your apt phones you need a line 5 to be defined as connected and you must have flexible co button on it for line 5 and each ext has to have access to line 5 all you may have to play with in programming is possibly the flash timing and caller id if your ata is sending dtmf instead of fsk !This system is brainless compared to the top of the range !Try help files they can be a lifesaver....

On the console menu,
Go to Extension
Then Flexible buttons
CO Buttons No.5
If not assigned to somebody for speed dialing ,Click on it and the CO Button 5 Pops up in blue pane.
Select single CO
Then under CO Line Number, select 5.

Hope thats what CWC3 is trying to mean.

Correction welcome

I'm going to use PT to program.

Use ars to select lines by lead number

Would be a lot easier with prog tool

ARS? Does your TEM have ARS? Our TA's don't, but if you put CO5 in Trunk Group 1, it will be the first choice when ou dial 9.

Yes it does have ars, he wants to be able to select lines for local and international calls.

on our system it does not matter what group the co is on , highest line no is givin when 9 is dialed, trunk groups are used for ars
kuchiko (TechnicalUser)
26 Jul 12 2:01
@obtsystems sir if i change that dial 81 to for example i change it to dial 82 it will apply to all internal local number, if they dial 82 it will route to C01 witch is my outside international calls and if i dial 9 it will hit C02 or C03 for my outside local calls?
obtsystems (Programmer)
26 Jul 12 2:59
what I am saying is if you setup ars,you can dial 9 for all calls, and program the lead numbers so if you dial 00 it will pick co 1, if you dail any other number it will go out on lines 2-3
Otoni79 (TechnicalUser)
26 Jul 12 4:12
Perhaps he is asking for the step-by-step guide to do the ARS
obtsystems (Programmer)
26 Jul 12 4:40
if you want everything starting with 00 to go on line 1 and everything else on co 2,3 I can set it up on ars on backup sent over so you can see what to do

Unless you are volunteering to do free step by step programming for someone else, you probably should not suggest we do it.

That's why ARS is covered very thoroughly in the manual.

At the very least, it onlly requires two routes and two tables for digit screening.
