Snapshot provider error (0xE000FE7D): Access is denied.

Dear All,

I’ve been having a weird issue with Backups Exec 2010 R3. When backing up a domain controller I get the following message:

Backup
V-79-57344-65149 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "System?State". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).

Snapshot provider error (0xE000FE7D): Access is denied.

To back up or restore System State, administrator privileges are required.

Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.

The solutions or suggestions found on Symantec forum are not really applicable as I use a fully blown Domain Admin account for it. Also, the backups used to work before I upgraded to R3 (it worked with R2).

Now, here is a really strange thing: I back up several DCs. I only get this message on one server at any time. Not the same server every time. For example, I have three DCs: DC01, DC02 and DC03. I get this error message on DC01. DC02 and DC03 back up allright. I then remove the DC01 from backup selection list. Next day, DC02 would fail with this message, and DC03 would back up OK. And so on….

Reinstalling the agent did not help.

Does anyone have any idea what’s going on?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards.

Michael.
