Aloha EDC v 6.4.34
Back of House - Forcing Tip Authorization

EDC and FOH and BOH Closing has already occured for the day.

We now find we need to enter about 30 TIPS.

However the Aloha EDC for Forcing the Authorization of a Credit Card Transaction from the EDC will not let you only enter a tip amount. You have to also enter an amount of at least $1.00 to the Amount field.

If your trying to keep accurate records, this is absurd.
You should be able to just enter the tip amount since you already have the authorization number for that.

Please note, I said that EDC processing and POS Closing has already occurred so I can't go to the FOH Terminals and make any adjustments.

These are after the fact adjustments you could say.

So how does one enter after the fact just the TIP AMOUNT.
We have the full CC Number, the Expiration Date, and the Authorization Number.

You can't use the auth for the initial purchase to add the tip because you've already settled your batch. That's why it's sometimes a good idea to leave the batch settlement to the opening manager the next day. You have a fresh, awake, and sober pair of eyes comparing the EDC totals to the non-cash payment totals, and the batch doesn't go anywhere unless and until they both jive. Kind of a rationality check.

However, you could try this: enter the tip amount in the amount field, leave the tip blank, enter them all and settle the batch, that'll get the money from the customers. After the batch is settled, you can back up the .STL file and change the AUTHAMT, BATCHAMT, and BATCHTIP values in the .STL still in the processor folder so that the columns look the way you want. That said; this is a purely cosmetic fix (if it works, never tried it) to a purely cosmetic problem. Is it really worth it? Don't you have a daily ledger or logbook you can just make a note in?

If you choose to try it, there are several caveats involved: BACK IT UP FIRST, the data in the .STL will not change the actual amount of money anywhere, and there may be legal ramifications, but I can't think of any that amount to more than committing fraud against yourself. As with all advice you read on the Internet; I assume no responsibility for anything ever, no lifeguard on duty, your mileage may vary, use under adult supervision in a well-ventilated area, etc.
