I have to connect 2 routers. All I have left open is a port on and HWIC-2T. All other ports are being used. I have one day left until I leave so I do not have time to buy modules or cable. All I have with me are (2) Smart Serial DTE Cables.
One of the routers needs to be a DCE. I want to make a dongle to put between the two DTE cable to convert one side to a DCE. Does anyone know what the pinout would be? This is what I've tried with no joy.
RX 3 - 2 TX
TX 2 - 3 RX
CTS 5 - 4 RTS
DSR 6 - 20 DTR
RTS 4 - 5 CTS
DTR 20 - 6 DSR
DCD 8 - 8 DCD
GND 7 - 7 GND
TXC 15 - 15 TXC
TXCE 24 - 17 RXC
LTST 18 - 18 LTST
RXC 17 - 24 TXCE

I see all the control signals the port needs and line on both routers would come up but protocols would not. I am also unable to insert a clock rate which tells me that neither ports have been converted to a DCE. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks
