Can anyone tell me what to do about a message 'retained earning must be equity type' when clicking on period end processing?  I cannot get beyond this message.  Help.

You need to check out the Retained Earnings account in your GL options and make sure it's an equity type of account.

I did try that. I didn't do anything with the ret. earns. acct in g/l prior to this. I've been using Mas90 for 4 years and never had a problem that I couldn't figure out with the books. Any other ideas?

Have you discussed with your reseller. What version of MAS are you on? Also if you go into Account Maintenance and pull up the account, in the account type box what does it say.

Will look at account type box on Monday. Don't know what version. Have looked but cannot find it. Have no info on who this was purchased from or who installed it. Is there hope?

In MAS go to File, Run and type in *INFO that will tell you the version number.
