Hi Guys,

Just stumbled across this on the web. Supports T & M series sets.

Anyone seen one in action ?

Been migrating over 10 BCM's system so far so good . No major problems hardware wise . T & M worked but behaved a bit differently on IPO. 1xxx series is not that great when they are in SIP mode .

Sorry, thought you are talking about IPO . What is other alternative are you referring to, please ?

Hi Ecartman,

This new UCx system looks awesome, I'd love to see how it works.....any idea how much it is?

I wonder how they came up with this system....let's discuss more when you have a chance.....

Not sure to be honest. Just stumbled across it yesterday on the web. I'm thinking it is just their own build of asterisk with the unistim drivers loaded. I was quite suprised that they are supporting the digital phones though.

Coincidentially, one of our distributor has started stocking the product. I am going to get some info from them on it.

Alright, I may get one for my test lab at home if it's not too expensive. It would definitely be worth experimenting with.

also it shows AVAYA being a service partner, any thoughts.

Plus, from some additional reading I found that they poached some key Nortel/Avaya people.........:)

Seems to use BCM50s with DSM32+ in expansion modules to support the digital phones. Not ideal in my view.

But they do support 2XXX seris phone which IPOffice will not.

I've never seen this system before but after some reading it now has sparked my interest as well. I wonder if it uses all the same feature codes as bcm/norstar? Does it program the same? I mean i guess they could'nt of copied everything right? I have a 100 questions about this thing...lol

From the support page it looks like they covered the Feature Codes.

From what I can tell this system might just fit the void of some of our customers. I know we have a few that have MICS's that wanted to incorporate IP but were scared to upgrade to the BCM becuase of it going away. They also did not want to just do a rip and replace of their system either because of the investment in the sets. I need to mention AVAYA is a bad name to them because I did suggest the IP Office with the Norstar mod. Maybe this system will give them what they want. like others here I'm going to see what I can find out about the system. Thanks ecartman for sharing this.

I agree, it has a market. I like IPOffice. However, I think Avaya could have done more in the investmet protection area, as some of our customers it is working out quite expensive to move to ipo.

We have a customer on BCM400 R4 with 60-70 x 2XXX seires sets. Avaya neglected these customers in my view. So this might fit them well, or alternatively an asterisk with unistim drivers.

Does this think have Callpilot too? I saw somw vmail feature codes listed on the web page but didn't see a mention of it? If this thing is what it sounds like then this will be a great system.

Hi everybody! I'll try to answer a few questions that were asked on this thread.

Yes, I've seen the system in action. :)

ECartman is correct, it is Asterisk based system with drivers to support Nortel UNISTIM and digital sets.

It does not have CallPilot - as it is based on Asterisk, it uses the Asterisk voicemail system. Norstar/BCM feature codes are used to access various Asterisk features (including voicemail), so for users from Norstar/BCM environments the migration is very easy.

As a replacement for BCM400 with 60-70 i2000 series phones, UCx450 would be a very good fit.

The MSRP for a basic UCx50 system with a license for 10 extensions is $1950. SIP phones (Nortel or other), Nortel IP phones, Nortel digital phones and IAX2 phones are supported. BTW - the license covers all features of the system (there is no separate licensing of features).

Programming of features on the phones works the same way as on Norstar/BCM (F*0, F*1, F*2, F*3, F*6, F*7, F*80 are all supported). Jeremy, if you expected Element Manager to be used for programming, the asnwer is no. The system uses a Web-based configuration utility.

The management interface is Web based (no set based administration of system features). User specific configuration (features assigned to buttons, ring volume, display contrast etc.) can be done also from the phone.

ucxguy, so what your saying with the example above (UCx50 with 10 License). I could use any the phones in a combination up to 10 SIP, Nortel IP, Digital, Analog? Also does that include mailboxes for the 10 users? Does any trunks come with that package, if so what types and how would you add more if needed? Thanks for answering our questions on this system.
