Is it OK to install & swap serial DCE / DTE cables on a powered-up router?  How about on shut vs opened interfaces?

TIA,

admoore,

If I am doing major work on my Cisco lab, I power it down, but I have changed serial cables with the routers up and running and with the interfaces "Up" or "Down".

You just DON'T want to hot swap and WICs or Network modules!!!!!

Hope this helps !!!

Serial interfaces shouldn't be a problem as the pins on the plugs are supposed to vary state between up and down!!!
