QuarkExpress 7.31:Preferences file damaged

Maring (TechnicalUser)

I'm not able to open my Quark. I have an error message:The application preferences file is damaged. Please remove it and re-launch Quark Express (297) After OK a second error message: Unexpected end-of-file encountered (-39).
I uninstalled my Quark and re-installed it, but is the same. Please help me! Thank you

You need to recreate the Preferences of QuarkXPress.
Windows -
Location of the Quark preferences on Windows XP:
C:\ Documents and Settings \ (Name of User) \ Application Data \ Quark \ QuarkXPress x.x

Location of the Quark preferences on Windows Vista:
C:\ Users \ (Name of User) \ AppData \ Local \ Quark \ QuarkXPress x.x
"You need to recreate the Preferences of QuarkXPress. For that navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\Your user\Application data\\Quark Rename the folder from QuarkXPress 7 to old QuarkXPress and Relaunch QuarkXPress. Yes you need to reset all the Preferences of QuarkXPress afterwards. Note: Application data is hidden folder. You need to unhide that folder from Tools>>folder options>>View tab>>Show hidden files and folders."

Macintosh-
Location of the Quark preferences on OSX:
Macintosh HD / Users / (Name of User) / Library / Preferences / Quark / QuarkXPress x.x
If you're on a Mac the preferences file is in main HD/users/user who is logged in/library/preferences – just bin the folder called Quark within that directory.

That's with Quark closed, by the way. When you re-open Quark it'll remake its preferences. Remember all those things you set as default (like deleting the RGB colours, changing H&Js or whatever) will have reverted to the way they were at first installation.
