WebSphere 5.1 SDK SR6 install, JDK 1.4.2

I am trying to install WAS5.1.1 on a new server to replace an aging machine. (we are stuck in this version due to application code). I need the JDK to be version 1.4.2.6 but when I try to install the fixpack to update the SDK I get this error:
"The fix pack can not be applied to the currently selected product because of missing prerequisites.
Please check your support documentaion to determine what prerequisites are required".

THe fixpack is named was511_SR6_jdk_win.jar I downloaded it from IBM as the file named was511_SR6_jdk_win.zip. I read through the documents and the only prerequisite it refered to was downloading the update installer and running it. I have started and stopped WAS and I have rebooted.

Not sure what else to do on what should be a straight forward install on a new machine with a fresh install of WAS 5.1.1.

Thank you for any help (especially since this is no longer supported by IBM).

It seems that something was corrupt in the install. I reinstalled WebSphere Application Server (using the same medium as first install) and the SDK update applied OK.
