I just replaced the hd in a bcm50 3.0 with one provided by Nortel. I patched it today with the latest SU desktop and system patches. I restored the system using a backup done a couple of weeks ago. Now when I go to system - IP subsystem, all three of the tabs are showing but then two of them close on their own and leave only the dial-out route tab. I'm unable to assign or even view the IP address.
Also when I click on IP subsystem, Business Element Mgr often tells me the connection was closed due to inactivity, even though I just logged in. Anyone know of a patch that addresses these problems that wasn't included in the latest SU?

Have you tried downloading the latest EM?
Missing tabs and java issue are sometime related to wrong EM version.

gberger- yes, I downloaded the EM from the BCM and installed it but no luck. I was already running the latest as I had just installed a 5.0 last week.

I had a similar problem with 5.0 software after applying SU 3. The IP terminal tab was greyed out and unable to display the IP sets. Turned out to be a Java problem. EM version was 61.0.1 and required the latest java version. I believe I installed java 6 with update 18. After relaunching EM all tabs including IP subsystem were viewable.

This procedure fixed it. Looks like the network configuration became corrupted during the backup or restore process. This sets just that part of the database back to default:
"Connection lost when trying to access Network Interfaces tab in BCM Element Manager

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Problem Description
BCM Element Manager logs you out of the system when you click Network Interfaces tab.
(or general settings tab disappears after opening the IP Subsystem tab.)

Problem Resolution
1) In the Element Manager, navigate to the Administration->Backup and Restore->Restore.

2) In the restore screen, from Factory Defaults, select restore

3) Pop-up appears. Click Restore button. Click OK at the first dialog box that asks "if you are sure".

4) Then in the next dialog box you see that all options are selected by default. De-select all options except for "Data Services+Network Interfaces" and click OK.

5) Then when prompted to proceed with the restore, click OK.

This action will default the network interfaces. Lan1 IP address will be defaulted to 10.10.10.1 and Lan2 IP address will be defaulted to 10.10.11.1 . You will have to configure network interfaces again.

(It wasn't noted on the tech note but this also wiped out all my user accounts and reset the nnadmin password back to default)
