After years of ingoring a mess I inherited, I've turned my attention to prepping our network for a migration from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2010. A jump that big is involved enough, but I also have to deal with some remains from the original 5.5 installations. The organization is still in mixed mode and SRS is still running although there hasn't been a 5.5 server up in the better part of the last decade.

In my quest to clean up useless junk, I clicked Exchange 2000 in Add/Remove Programs and was going to remove the MS Mail and Lotus cc:Mail connectors from the machine referenced in "Connector for MS Mail(<MYSERVER>)," but the only option is to "Install." Is this a remnant from the 5.5 installation that once resided on this machine? All that's left now is the administrator program. It looks like I can delete the connectors from AD Sites and Services, but is that wise to do, or will that leave behind other garbage in the AD? FYI, I don't care about the machine itself (it'll be trashed), just an uncluttered Active Directory.

From System Manager, clicking properties on MS Mail connector just gives me an error that it can't open the MS Mail registry key, so it doesn't even appear to be working. Lotus cc:Mail on the other hand, has MTS-In and MTS-Out queues and actually appears to be functioning.
