I have clearcase installed on my laptop and whilst I'm in the office everything works fine.
My issue is, when I leave the office and go home.
I connect to the office via a cisco vpn.
Before we get too far down the road, let me state now, for the record, I'm not trying to deliver files or anything heavy over the VPN - I'm well aware that would be foolish!
My issue is with the shell integration, it's killing me!
Basically, if I right-click on anything explorer.exe blows up.
When I say anything, I'm not limiting it to files in snapshot views, I'm talking about right clicking on My Comptuer, Recycle Bin, Zip Files, absolutely anything.
Sometimes it blows up instantly, which is annoying but not as annoying as other times when it hangs for x minutes, and then blows up.
I know it's the clearcase shell integration because using tool for viewing/enabling/disabling shell integrations (find it on google) I killed off the ClearCase shell integration and everything works fine.
There's a few questions I'm trying to figure out, and I don't want to waste anyone's time by being vague, so let's start with the first concrete question...
When I'm in the office I launch the clearcase control panel applet and it opens within 2 or 3 seconds.
When I'm at home, connected via the cisco vpn, I launch the clearcase control panel applet and sometimes it opens after about 5 minutes (literally) other times it doesn't open at all.
Anyone know what's going on here?
Personally, I think the issue is ClearCase trying to communicate with the license server, I base this opinion on similar behavior I've experienced with other (non IBM) products.
Trouble is, my network techs are telling me "all the right ports are open" blah blah blah blah blah blah!
There's got to be something wrong, cos it doesn't work!
Your help and advice would be appreciated.
