I have a port on a Cisco 2950 that I have not been able to bring it back to life. Any suggestions as to how I can fix this and something about how to keep it from happening again would be appreciated. Thank you in advance...

Did you reset any settings for the one port? Anything in the logs regarding the port?
If you disable the port, then re-enable it, and it still does not work, I would leave it in an admin down state and label it as bad.

Not much you can do to dfix a bad physical port.

Check the pins and see if they are bent . Otherwise reload the switch , if that doesn't fix it then its a hardware problem .  Do you get a link light ?

Also make sure it is not in a error disable state .  Verify with the show interface status " command.

Thanks, I'll check the pins then reload. I sure hope this takes care of the problem, budget cutbacks and all, I can't go off buying new switches....
