I want to set up a night button on a 824. The only station that rings is 221 and the voice mail is on 240. I want when she has to leave her phone all she has to do is push the button and the greeting of the company voice mail comes on.
For night service go into confi/service modes and remove 221 and assign 240 and make 221 the control set.
Add lines to the ring group as well under modes.
I go to service modes, then control sets, show line has 221. Do I change that to 240? Then it has nights, I make that manual (turn evening and lunch off)then it has trunk answer-Y-, extra dial-221-, then Show line-001-, then ringing sets-221-.Do I leave that-221- or do I add 240? Where do I find ringing modes? OK I admit I am slow.

No leave control set as 221, control set means it has the power to set the modes via the programmed button or F87
then Show line-001-, then ringing sets-221-.Do I leave that-221- or do I add 240?
Remove 221 and add 240
That should do the trick, now press your night mode button til it states NIGHT for vmail to answer.
Press again til it states NORMAL for reception to ring again.
If x221 already rings during normal hours, it isn't really a big deal if you leave it in the ring group. Ring groups just add ringing sets to those already programmed to ring.
In night mode, users will still hear their phones ring (about a half ring) before vm picks up.
