A recent power surge took out our existing music on hold player (DPX 23B). It was a standard MP3 player. We have now installed suitable surge protectors and need to buy a new Music On Hold player. Anyone have any recommendations?

I was shocked to see the prices are in the £100-200 range for what is basically a glorified Mediacard player. Anyone recommend any inexpensive options, apart from running a standard mains MP3 player in?

Try a CD walkman, IPOD, or Zune. As long as it has a headphone jack and a repeat feature it would work.

Hi Kevin,

Need something that runs off power adapter though or it'll cost a fortune in batteries! Suppose I could get a mains charger into the ipod nano though.... Mmmmm....

They sell power adapters for IPODs they can't be more than a couple of bucks also if you have a cisco close by or something to that affect it might be able to charge it through the USB outlet with the cable it comes with.

walkmans and ipods have wall chargers, why would you have to use batteries for any of those?

I would go down the Ipod nano route no moving parts should last for ages

If its not broke tweak it..

We use a cable set top box tuned to one of the digital music stations. No batteries required and they usually have a holiday music channel in December.
