Hi All,

Thanks in advance.

I am trying to get a 4610 SW IP phone that I was trying to setup as a VPN phone back to a NONVPN status so that I can use it here in the office.

I tried to * to program to get to the Enter command screen and I tried the Mute 47687# 0# ( I heard that should take it out of the VPN group)
Nothing happens when I type in that command..any ideas?

Doc, we better back up. We don't have enough road to get up to 88.

no workie

just set the vpn start type to 'ON DEMAND' so will work as ordinary IP Phone, but as VPN if needed (options - start vpn)

If you need the license on another phone, just disable it from the extension/voip settings.

I can't get it to get out of the boot process, it keeps rebooting and does not allow me the chance to go to options.

press * during boot, don't change anything and at the end of the standard options you will see the vpn options

The VPN Options do not show up.

when you press * during boot, then click # the whole way through, the last option is VPN Start Mode.

I am doing this on a 5610 so not too sure about 4610.

yeah, it is weird, no option like that shows up. I tried to get to the command part and do the mute 47687# 0# to take it out of the vpn group, but that does not work, the phone keeps rebooting.

The phone reboots and shows the following on the screen:

loading b10d01b2_3.bin

goes thru DHCP settings real quick.

https:1

then it reboots again and repeats the process

Did you see that there is a change to both the top AND the bottom of the file on my web site? If you forgot the
# NOVPN
GET 46xxupgrade.scr

at the bottom it will not work.

is that the ipofficeassistant site?

This is what is on the site:

not sure if I need to start a new thread.
The one 4610 SW IP phone that I do want to connect to the VPN says that IKE Phase2 no response, according to the Avaya document (the link), I have changed everything that it says to change but it does not connect

Cant get this one to work; My VPN phoen downloads the 46vpnupgrade and after that it downloads the 46xxupgrade.scr .....but it still boots the VPN software, and still continues to ask for the 46vpnupgrade when it start up!

Whats wrong?

I triedmoving novpn to the top, and the file download of 46xxupgrade succeeds, but doesnt make the phone a NON-VPN phone. ?

The # NO VPN section really should be at the end of the file as moving it to the top would skip the upgrade process if you were actually trying to upgrade a regular phone to a VPN phone.

That being said do you have the proper .bin files for your phone as referenced in your 46xxupgrade.scr to convert the file back?

kholladay,

I am trying to get a phone (4610sw) that I was using when trying to setup a vpn phone back to where I can use it without the vpn.

The phone keeps rebooting itself and shows that it is trying to load teh b10d01b2_3.bin
the phone that I use at my desk shows the application file is a10d01b28824.bin.

I am not sure how to get the phone to pickup the a10d01b28824.bin

The firmware the phone will load is defined in the 46xxupgrade.scr

If you have modified the 46vpnupgrade.scr as listed above (reference my site ) and you have set the phone back to Group 0 ( MUTE 47687 # ) the phone will launch 46vpnupgrade.scr then skip the file and load the 46xxupgrade.scr file. You'll want to open this file in Notepad or similar and look for the # BOOTAPP4610 section and see what firmware is being looked for ( IF $BOOTNAME SEQ <firmware> ) and what it will be upgraded to if not currently there ( SET APPNAME <firmware> )

i.e.
$IF $BOOTNAME SEQ b10d01b2_9_1.BIN goto DEF46XX
This would say check to see if the phone is currently running 2.9.1 firmeware.
SET APPNAME b10d01b2_9_1.bin
This says if 2.9.1 isn't already loaded upgrade to this version.

So my questions would be.

1) Did you modify 46vpnupgrade.scr and add the two lines per the document on my site?
2) Did you change the phone's group back to 0 using the MUTE 47687 # command?
3) What does your copy of the 46xxupgrade.scr file ( x:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager ) list as the proper version to be loaded on the phone?

kholladay,

thanks!

1) Did you modify 46vpnupgrade.scr and add the two lines per the document on my site?

Here is what I changed it to:

IF $GROUP SEQ 0 GOTO NOVPN

IF $MODEL4 SEQ 4610 goto DEFVPN4610
IF $MODEL SEQ 4620D01B goto DEFVPN4620
IF $MODEL SEQ 4621D01A goto DEFVPN4620
IF $MODEL4 SEQ 5610 goto DEFVPN5610
IF $MODEL4 SEQ 5620 goto DEFVPN5620
IF $MODEL4 SEQ 5621 goto DEFVPN5620
goto END

# DEFVPN5610
SET APPNAME i10aVPN23252.bin
goto END

# DEFVPN5620
SET APPNAME i20aVPN23252.bin
goto END

# DEFVPN4610
SET APPNAME a10bVPN23252.bin
goto END

# DEFVPN4620
SET APPNAME a20bVPN23252.bin
goto END

# DEFVPN4625
SET APPNAME a25VPN25252.bin
goto END

# END
GET 46vpnsetting.txt

# NO46xx

# NOVPN
GET 46xxupgrade.scr

2) Did you change the phone's group back to 0 using the MUTE 47687 # command? -

I can't change this option. I try the * to program and I go all the way to the end to enter command and the mute 47687 #0 # does not work.

3) What does your copy of the 46xxupgrade.scr file ( x:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager ) list as the proper version to be loaded on the phone?

Here are some parts of the 46xxupgrade.scr
This file upgrades the following telephones to the
# indicated releases:
# 4610SW, 4620SW, 4621SW, 4622SW H.323 - GA Release 2.8.24

BOOTAPP VERSION NUMBERS
4610: 2.8.24
#################################################
IF $GROUP SEQ 876 GOTO DEF46VPN
IF $GROUP SEQ 0 GOTO NOVPN

# DEF46VPN
GET 46xxvpn.scr
goto END

# NOVPN

#################################################

#check bootApp version
IF $MODEL4 SEQ 4610 goto BOOTAPP4610

# BOOTAPP4610
IF $BOOTNAME SEQ b10d01b2824.bin goto DEF46XX
SET APPNAME b10d01b2824.bin

Just put in the 2_3 bin file
IT takes an extra file download but i think it will be quicker in this case :)
