Hi forum,

I am working with ACT! 9.0 Premium. Is it possible to produce a report showing the relationship between documents in the "Attachments" folder and contacts? Something like:

CODE

Smith, Walter      picture1.jpg
                   picture2.jpg
                   document1.doc
                   document2.doc
                   boring.pdf
                   EvenMoreBoring.pdf

Any help would be much appreciated!

Regards ...... Nick

Your "code" just lists the attachments of a contact.

What do you mean by "relationships"? Or is just a list good enough?

Hi Mike

thanks for replying. A list is what I meant. I just used the code tag (which on reflection, could lead to confusion winky smile to show the fields I want and how the list should be formated.

So, you want a list of the contacts and for each contact, a list of the attached files.

How about if the file is attached to multiple contacts?

How about if the file is attached to a group?
To a company?

How about if it's attached to Activities, Notes, Histories or Sales Ops?

There also are differences if the file is attached using File - Attach in the History or via the Documents Tab.

As you can see, working out what you need is nearly is tricky as doing the report smile

OK, I'll try to be more specific and thanks for your patience winky smile

A.) I am only interested in files entered in the Documents Tab.

B.) If a file is attached to multiple Contacts I would like it to be listed against each relevant Contact.

Does that make the process easier?

Kind regards...... Nick

It does make it easier... a document in the Documents tab can't be linked to multiple contacts. If you attach it to several contacts it will actually make copies in the attachments folder.

Are you only interested in the Contacts or do you want Companies and Groups also?

There isn't a way to do this in the ACT! report writer, but it's possible with Crystal Reports.

I guess it depends on how much this is worth to you
